Theme:
" In the Potter's Hands"

Potters Hands

Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

“But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;”

For young women’s Vida Nueva #8 God has given us the theme of In the Potter’s Hands. God tells us that we are the clay and He is the potter. Have you ever thought about what that means?   When a potter works with clay the first thing he has to do is kneed it and make it pliable and soft. The potter puts the clay on the wheel, centers it and begins working the clay. The potter uses water to soften the clay as he shapes it. If the potter doesn’t use water it becomes brittle, cracks and eventually breaks. The potter takes time to mold the pot because he is passionate about his creation, his treasure. Sometimes the clay becomes off center and bends or becomes misshapen. Because of the passion the potter has for his creation he doesn’t ever quit, he adds the water it needs, the time it needs and works it in his hands for it to become what he planned all along. As we start our lives we are pliable and soft but as we grow and mature we can become dry like the desert. The way we make ourselves pliable is by giving ourselves water, the living word, the Bible. We can come off center like clay by making mistakes and falling off the course we know God has planned for our lives. Our God is mighty; He will never give up on us.  He tells us in His word that  “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;”. In our lives we go thru many trials and circumstances that can cause us to become cracked and broken. In the story of Gideon God used the cracked and broken pots to shine brightly to defeat the Midianites. The imperfections or what we would call mistakes were there for a purpose. The potter already has a vision for our lives; he knows the outcome of every circumstance and uses it for His glory.   Will you allow God to mold your life to be a light to others?
